3 BONUS Tips to Implement a Successful Nurture Strategy
Well hey there and welcome back to another episode of the Mama Business Podcast. I’m going to keep today’s episode quick and to the point, but I didn’t want us to complete our discussion about the nurture strategy without giving you a few bonus tips for implementing and remaining consistent with sending those emails and making those offers.
Now, before I go there, I wanted to mention that I’m not actually going to walk through the step-by-step process of getting your email service provider up and going in this series. The reason for that is that I’ve already created an Email Marketing 101 episode for you. It’s episode #29 so you can feel free to go listen to that. I am also going to say that I highly recommend using ConvertKit. I’ve been with them for a long time and they are an affordable and easy-to-use option that will give you all of the features you need to be successful. So, if you are interested in that, you can use my affiliate link: sarahbrumley.com/convertkit or follow the link in the show notes. Not only does that get you a bit of a discount, but I get a small kickback for referring you so I appreciate if you decide to go that route that you use that link.
In the meantime, let’s jump into those bonus tips to help you remain consistent when it comes to nurturing your potential clients.
Bonus Tip #1: Pair with Content Publish Date
One of the easiest ways to remain consistent with your nurture strategy is to pair your email publish date with the publish date of your long-form content. Not only does that mean that you can share about that new blog post, podcast episode, or video you just created, but you won’t have multiple deadlines looming that might be easy to overlook.
Because my content goes out weekly, I send a weekly email as well. Some weeks it really just is an offer to listen to the podcast, but other weeks, I offer additional resources, tips and tricks, and special offers and discounts.
I already have a workflow in place for each podcast episode, so I’ve simply added “send email” to the process. By pairing them together, I rarely forget to send those nurture emails.
Bonus Tip #2: Create a Template Email
The second way to remain consistent when it comes to sending emails is to create a template. I don’t know about you, but I am ALWAYS looking for ways to make things easier and prevent my having to recreate the wheel each and every time I do it. So, enter the email template.
Personally, I have a few templates that I use interchangeably, but my standard email template has my logo at the top, the typical paragraph structure I use in each email, a few tips for what to include, as well as a button that links to my podcast or blog. Each email finishes off with my signature and photo, as well as a post script or consistent call to action at the very bottom.
I’ve gone right ahead and done this within ConvertKit – my email provider – so each and every time I go to send a new email, I just select the template I want, plug and play the information that’s applicable, delete what’s not needed, and press send. No guesswork, no wondering what did last time… you get the point.
And creating the template probably took me 10 minutes. So, definitely worth the time spent ahead of time for the time saved when a new email is meant to be sent.
Bonus Tip #3: Include a P.S.
The final tip I’ll give you today is to include a post script, also referred to as the P.S. This P.S. is found at the bottom of your email, after your signature, and is just a line or two of information.
The reason I recommend this is while many readers will read your emails in entirety, there’s a large amount of people that will simply skim the email instead. But what I’ve learned is that those skimmers actually read the P.S. So, that makes this is a great place to reiterate your call to action, whether that was to read a blog post, or whatever it might’ve been OR you can use this space to mention an offer that you have. Remember that we want to be sharing those offers or solutions at least once per month, and the post script is a great place to do this.
Plus, if you wanted to, you could include a few options in your template email and just choose from the one that makes the most sense when you go to actually create an email to send.
Talk about streamlining and making things simple for yourself.
