1 Easy Way to Improve Your Email Marketing Strategy Today

Well, hey there, and welcome to this episode of the Mama Business podcast. I’m your host, Sarah Brumley, and my goal with each podcast episode is to help you create a business strategy that works for you and doesn’t have you feeling overwhelmed or neglecting your family in the process. And…today is no different as we jump into this quick tip episode.

As we approach the summer, one of the things I’m hearing throughout a lot of my strategy sessions with clients is that they want more clients and income, but they don’t have a lot of time to dedicate to pursuing new client leads over the summer while their kids are home. And, trust me, I understand that feeling and a lot of that comes from not having your systems and strategies in place ahead of time. But, I do think that a lot of times, we sell ourselves short. We tell ourselves we aren’t capable – when we really are – and we don’t do the little things that can help us make more money and grow that successful business, even when our kids are home.

Today I want to stop that right in it’s tracks. You can make money over the summer, even with your kids at home. And, at the very least, you absolutely can set yourself up for immediate success when they head back to school in the fall. So, knowing that, today we’re going to chat about your email marketing strategy, specifically one thing that you can do to improve your strategy today and turn those subscribers into people that can’t wait to open their wallets and pay you for your products and services.

Sound like a plan? I think so, too.

Okay, so the one thing way that you can improve your email marketing strategy today? Drum roll please – write an email and send it. Oooooh – so simple, right? And yet, that’s half the battle. If you have people on your email list – EVEN ONE PERSON – and you aren’t sending them an email consistently, then no wonder they aren’t paying you. You have warm leads sitting on your email list – embrace that and start building them up and encouraging them to work with you.

Stop Overthinking Your Email Marketing Strategy

I could just stop here – tell you that’s your action step, which it ABSOLUTELY is, but I want to give you a few suggestions to go along with this. Because, if you’re anything like I was when I started out in business, you’re probably already overthinking this. You might be thinking:

  • Well I have no idea what to write to my people.
  • Where do I start?
  • What should I say?
  • What if they hate me?

Don’t overthink it. Just show up as you. Write your email as you would write to your best friend. And then, let the results speak for themselves. But if you don’t write the email – there won’t be any results – good or bad. So, you have to write the email.

4 Email Marketing Topics to Consider

As far as topics you could consider, I’ve come up with four. That means, if you write these four emails, you’d have a month’s worth of emails if you schedule them weekly or two month’s worth if you schedule them to go every other week. So, no more excuses.

Topic 1: A story from your early days in your industry. Want to learn more? Offer a resource, your podcast, your blog, an article you wrote, a freebie you have…whatever it might be.

Topic 2: Encourage them to up level their game – ONE thing that they should do ASAP to get on the right track. Valuable for those that need a quick win.

Topic 3: One counterargument you have that goes against the grain of your industry. What sets you apart? This could be something you believe to be wrong or an issue that’s come up that frustrates you or something that could just be better. Get them talking and thinking. This creates a desire to change which might just be the encouragement they need to work with you.

Topic 4: An offer. A story of someone you’ve worked with, the results they received, and how your email recipient can also have those results. Tease a program if you don’t have one or offer the live one.

Take Action: Improve Your Email Marketing Strategy Today

And that brings us to the action part of this episode because I am trying to keep this short and sweet. And we all know that action is where the dreams turn into the reality. And today’s action step is this:

ACTION: Write an email and send it. Even if you only have one person on your list. Even if that one person is your mom. Now’s the time to get started and practice consistency. It won’t get any easier when your list is bigger. Do it now – your fans deserve to hear from you, they deserve to know how you can solve their problem, and your wallet – is going to thank you.
